bigpimpinmba's Diaryland Diary

The one about Christmas 04

Been away for a while and there is lots to tell

When last we checked in with the Pimps, we had returned from Disney and there were some shared pictures for your viewing pleasure. This was just prior to Christmas and my week off from work, where there was much relaxing and non-updating and non-reading followed by a week of work of additional non-updating and non-diary-reading because of the sheer volume of work that awaited me upon my return to the working world.

So What happened in my D-Land absence?

Some stuff funny and much stuff mundane, but Ill tell you a little about some of it by at least trying to post once a day (or maybe more!) this week with a few stories.

December 25, 2004
Pimphousehold

Santa had such a great time putting together various Thomas trains, knock off Thomas train tables, official Thomas train station, official Thomas train washer, knock-off Thomas train tracks, knock-off Thomas train bridges, and nothing even associated with Thomas puzzle holders to boot. Apparently, this will only be the beginning of many more years of late-night Christmas marathons to come. Santa cant wait for the exponential multiplication of work that is set to come in future years as the Pimp household expands and gets older!

Christmas morning came what seemed like much earlier this year, even though it probably wasnt any earlier than any other year. Mrs. Pimp and I were extremely excited to see the reaction of our 3-year old (later this month) son when he got a good gander at the bevy of train-awesomeness that awaited him.

Our little girl (7 months for any new readers) woke up earlier, so we fed her and proceeded to wake up the boy before she went back to sleep. We go in and wake up our little man and he groggily wakes up. We tell him that we saw what Santa brought for him, but he isnt completely getting it. It does seem that he is on his way out of bed and downstairs to see the booty that awaits him, so the Mrs. and I run ahead downstairs, poised with camera and camcorder to record the reaction of our son as he lays eyes upon the multitude of trainy happiness that awaits him.

I wish I had the bandwidth to post the video that was taken that morning as there was about 3 minutes of Mrs. Pimp and I asking/begging/commanding our little man to come downstairs and see what Santa has brought for him and 3 minutes of rebuttals such as

NO!!! DADDYMOMMY COME GET ME!!!

NO!!! DONT WANNA SEE SANTA!!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

I think you get the picture. Mrs. Pimp had to go up the stairs, get him to come halfway down the stairs and then ran ahead to get the priceless picture of his lil face as he laid eyes upon what was sure to become his new pride and joy his trains.

You can't even tell me that this doesn't kick ass six ways from Sunday. What's not to be excited about?

Little Pimp gets down the stairs and peeks through the spindles and his eyes light up in delight as he sees the spread of toys around the tree.

Now he gets to the bottom of the stairs and (HERE IT COMES!!! HES GOING TO LOVE THESE TRAINS) runs over to.

Our baby-girls toy sitting beside the giant table with the trains and tracks and Thomas stuff that he had been talking about wanting for months.

A toy only the Borg (or my son) could love... (Only other geeky Trek lovers will get that reference!)

No matter how much coaxing and pleading we did with him, he could not be swayed from playing with his sisters toy for the next 10 minutes, getting some absolutely invaluable film footage.

Although he eventually came around and wouldnt stop playing with his trains for a good portion of the day, it is still funny how we had such high expectations about how much our little man would run right to the trains and would have to be torn from them, kicking and screaming. Instead, we had to beg him to even look at the trains instead of a toy designed for a 6-month old.

Well, at least there was somewhat of a happy ending!

Classic.

At least he didnt just play with the box

And one last picture of Christmas joy...

Merry Christmas, even though it is about 3 weeks late!
